A giant skeleton leans out from behind a dark curtain of wood and roof beams, one huge bony hand reaching forward, drawn in the bold lines of a 19th-century Japanese woodblock print. Made for fans of Japanese folklore, ukiyo-e and the gashadokuro legend.
Design
The skeleton is drawn new in the manner of a 19th-century ukiyo-e woodblock print, with bold outlines and flat areas of tone. It fills the frame as it pushes past the beams, bone-white against the dark, so the hand seems to come right off the shirt.
